SBP 100 is a blood pressure monitor that maximizes a reading accuracy of blood pressure through
the artery in your wrist echoed from the heart. It detects arrgythmia symptoms and displays
the symbol “ on LCD. If arrhythmia symptoms symbol is displayed, you are recommended to
consult with a doctor. Please do not interpret Blood pressure measurements including arrhyth-
mia symptoms by yourselves. The reading should be interpreted by a physician or a trained health
professional who is familiar with your medical history. By using the device regularly, and recor-
ding the results for your phisican to interpret, you keep your phisician informed of the continuing
trends in your blood pressure.
The measuring accuracy of SBP 100 was tested at the time of manufacture and was proven by clini-
cal research in accordance with AANI/ANSI-SP10.

What you should know about blood pressure
What is Blood Pressure ?
Blood pressure is the force of blood flowing against the walls of the arteries. Arterial blood pressure
varies during the course of the cardiac cycle. The highest pressure in the cycle is called the SYSTOLIC
BLOOD PRESSURE ; the lowest the DIASTOLIC BLOOD PRESSURE. Both pressure readings, the SYSTO-
LIC and DIASTOLIC, are necessary to enable a physician to evaluate the status of a patient‘s blood
pressure. Many factors such as physical activity, anxiety, or the time of day, can influence your blood
pressure. Blood pressure constantly changes throughout the day. It rises sharply in the early mor-
ning and declines during the late morning. Blood pressure rises again in the afternoon and finally
drops to a low level at night. Also, it may vary in a short period of time. Therefore, reading from
successive measurements can be fluctuate.

Why is it important to measure your Blood Pressure at home?
Blood pressure measured in a doctor’s office only provides a momentary value. Repeated measure-
ments at home better reflect one’s actual blood pressure values under everyday conditions.
Moreover, many people have a different pressure when they measure at home, because they tend
to be more relaxed than when in the doctor’s office.
Regular blood pressure measurements taken at home can provide your doctor with valuable infor-
mation on your normal blood pressure values under actual “everyday” conditions.
The World Health Organization(WHO) Blood Pressure Classifications
WHO has set up the following standard blood pressure values when measured at resting pulse.
Blood Normal values Mild hypertension Severe hypertension
Pressure(mmHg)
SYS =Systole = up to 140 140 – 180 over 180
upper value
DIA =Diastole= up to 90 90 – 110 over 110
lower value
What are arrhythmias?
The heart is a pump that functions by pushing the blood through its four chambers. The blood is-
„pushed“ through in a controlled sequence of muscular contractions. The sequence is controlled
by bundles of cells which control the electrical activity of the heart. When the sequence is distur-
bed, heart arrhythmias occur.
5

Arrhythmias are abnormal rhythms of the heart. They cause the heart to pump blood less effecti-
vely. Most cardiac arrhythmias are temporary and benign. Most temporary and benign arrhythmi-
as are those where your heart skips a beat or has an extra beat. These occasional changes can be
brought on by strong emotions or exercise. Nonetheless, some arrhythmias may be life-threa-
tening and require treatment.
Symptoms?
Symptoms of Arrhythmia overall: Palpitations or rapid thumping in your chest, feeling tired or
light-headed, loosing consciousness, shortness of breath and chest pain.
Symptoms of bradycardia: feeling tired, short of breath, dizzy, or faint.
Symptoms of tachycardia: heartbeat might feel like a strong pulse in your neck, or a fluttering, ra-
cing beat in your chest, feelings of discomfort, weak, shortness breath, faint, sweaty, and dizzy.
Can arrhythmia be treated?
Treatment of arrhythmia depend on the type of arrhythmia, the patients age, physical condition and
age. Methods are available for prevention of arrhythmia. These methods include relaxation techni-
ques to reduce stress, limit intake of caffeine, nicotine, alcohol and stimulant drugs. Many arrhyth-
mias require no treatment, they are naturally controlled by the body‘s immune system. However
if it is necessary that arrhythmias must be controlled, they can be controlled by drugs, cardio-
version, automatic implantable defibrillators or an artificial pacemaker. Arrhythmias are very
serious. They cause nearly 250,000 deaths in the United States each year. Arrhythmias that start
in the lower chambers of the heart (the ventricles) are more serious than those that start in the
upper chambers (the atria).

Arrhythmia statistics
- During a 24-hour period about 20% of healthy adults are likely to have multiple types of prema-
ture ventricular beats
- As many as 2 million Americans are living with arterial fibrillation, a type of arrhythmia

6. Correct measurement position
Measurement values vary according to your posture. Measure your blood pressure in the sitting position.
• Place your elbow on a table or other object.
• Use the storage case to position the arm so that the pressure cuff is at the same height as the heart.
Make sure that the cuff is not stuck on the storage case for smooth inflation.
• Open your hand and fingers slightly, and relax.
• Blood pressure will vary in relation to the level of the cuff from the heart. A 10cm difference will result
in an 8mmHg measurement error.
• Relax your hand with the palm facing up snugly.
• Waiting allows the engorged blood vessels to return to normal before each new measurement is taken.
N o t e
Please use only a cuff supplied by SENCOR.
Using other cuffs may impede measurement.
N o t e
Your heart is located slightly below your armpit.
For successive readings, wait 3 to 5 mi-
nutes between measurements.

7. How to measure
Please read “Key rules for accurate blood pressure measurement” and “Correct measurement position”
and “Attaching pressure cuff before taking measurement.
Turn power on
• When Power is turned on, all display symbols appear for approximately 1 second.
• The display symbols disappear and the ready symbol(- - -) starts to flash. If the air exits in the cuff,
the air is released automatically while the “- - -” symbol displays.
Automatic inflation
• The pressure cuff inflates after the “0” is displayed on the window.
• When the power button is subsequently pressed during pressurization, the unit is turned off and
the cuff deflates.
When inflation is completed, the Y“ symbol will appear indicating that measurement is in progress.
• Continuous rapid step air deflation
• The pressure deflation starts by opening the solenoid valve for a short time. After pulse is detec-
ted, pressure deflation is synchronized with patient’s pulse cycle and deflation is carried out.
