are a component of the product. They supply you with important information for

the intended use, safety and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise

yourself with all of the operating and safety instructions. Use the appliance only as

described and only for the purposes indicated. Additionally, pass these instructions

on to whoever might acquire the appliance at a future date.

Intended Use

This appliance is intended for the boiling-up of water in domestic households. It is

not intended for use with other liquids or for commercial applications.

This appliance is intended exclusively for use in domestic households. Do not use

the appliance for commercial applications!

Safety instructions

RISK - ELECTRICAL SHOCK!

► Ensure that the base with the electrical connections NEVER comes

into contact with water! Ensure that the base is completely dry

before use, especially if it has accidentally become wet.

► Use the kettle only with the supplied base.

► Ensure that the power cable never becomes wet or damp during

operation. Lay the cable so that it cannot be trapped or otherwise

damaged.

► To avoid risks, arrange for defective plugs and/or cables to be

replaced at once by qualiﬁ ed technicians or our Customer Ser-

vice Department.

► After use, ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains power socket.

Switching the appliance oﬀ is not suﬃ cient, because the appli-

ance is under power for as long as the plug is connected to the

power socket.

► Before use check the appliance for signs of visible external dam-

age. Do not put into operation an appliance that is damaged or

has been dropped.

► Repairs should only be carried out by authorized specialist

companies or by the Customer Service department. Incompetent

repairs can result in signiﬁ cant risks for the user. In addition war-

ranty claims become void.

NEVER submerse the appliance in water or other liquids!

You could receive a fatal electric shock if residual liquids

come into contact with live components during operation.

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!

► Heat water only with the lid closed, otherwise the automatic switch-

oﬀ cannot function. Boiling water could then spray out over the rim.

► Hot steam clouds may be released. The kettle also becomes very

hot during use. It is always best to wear oven mitts when handling

the kettle.

► Ensure that the appliance is stood stably and vertically before

switching it on. Boiling water can cause an unstable kettle to fall over.

► Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.

► This appliance may be used by persons with reduced physical,

sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or

knowledge if they are supervised or, in regard to the safe use of

the appliance, have been instructed in its use and have under-

stood the potential risks.

► This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years or more if

they are supervised or, in regard to the safe use of the appliance,

have been instructed in its use and have understood the potential

risks. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks should not be carried

out by children unless they are aged 8 years or more and are su-

pervised. The device and its connecting cable must be kept away

from children younger than 8 years old.

► Children may not play with the appliance.

WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE!

► Do not use an external timing switch or a separate remote control

system to operate the appliance.

► Never leave the appliance unsupervised whilst in use.

► Ensure that the appliance, the power cable and the plug do not

come into contact with hot plates or open ﬂ ames.

Preparation

Unpacking

♦ Remove all components of the appliance and the operating manual from

the carton.

♦ Remove all packing material.

Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the appliance against transport damage. The packaging

materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness

and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable.

The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves on raw material and

reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging material that is

no longer needed according to the regionally established regulations.

NOTICE

► If possible, preserve the appliance's original packaging during the warranty

period so that, in the e

vent of a warranty claim, you can pack the appliance

ideally for its return.

Initial use

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!

► Always and only use freshly drawn mains water in the kettle! Do not con-

sume an

y water that is not certiﬁ ed as potable. If you do, you are taking a

risk with your health!

Before starting the appliance up, make certain that ...

– the appliance, plug and power cable are in a serviceable condition

and ...

– all packaging materials have been removed from the appliance.

Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX marking and let it come to a

full boil once – as described in the next section.

2) After it has boiled, pour this water away.

3) Rinse the kettle out with clear water.

4) Fill the appliance with water once again, up to the MAX marking, and

then bring it to boil. When done, pour this water away also.

The appliance is now ready for use.

► Never place the electrical base 3 close to w

ater – this would be a

potentially fatal risk!

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!

► Always use freshly drawn water. Do not consume any water that has

alr

eady stood in the kettle for longer than one hour. Do not reboil water

that has cooled down. Always pour old water away. Microbes could have

formed in it!

NOTE

► Always ensure that the ON/OFF switch 2 is turned to “O” when the

mains plug is unplugged and the de

vice is standing on the base 3.

If not, the device could heat up unintendedly as soon as the mains plug is

plugged in again.

1) Lift the kettle oﬀ of the base when ﬁ lling it!

2) Press the unlocking button 1 and open the lid.

NOTE

► When ﬁ lling it, hold the kettle upright. This is the only way to read the

markings on the scale 6 corr

ectly.

3) Fill the kettle...

– to at least the MIN mark, so that the appliance does not overheat,

– to maximum the MAX mark, so that boiling water cannot spill out.

First close the lid, then place the kettle on the base 3, so that it sits securely

on the base 3.

5) Adjust the temperature regulator 5 to the required setting. To bring the

water to the boil, you have to set the temperature regulator 5 to the MAX

position in the boiling range (area marked red on temperature regulator 5).

6) Now insert the plug into the mains power socket.

7) Press the ON/OFF switch 2 downwards so that it engages.

8) The integrated indicator light in the ON/OFF switch 2 indicates that the

appliance is now heating up.

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!

► For safety reasons, the lid should not be opened while the water is boiling

or is v

ery hot. There is a risk of receiving severe scalds.

INFORMATION ON TEMPERATURE RANGES

Temperature regulator in boiling range:

― The appliance switches itself oﬀ and the control lamps go out as soon

as the water is on the boil. The ON/OFF switch 2 clicks out.

― If you want to keep the water hot after boiling it, adjust the temperature

egulator 5 to the keep hot range (area marked black in tempera-

ture regulator 5) and press the ON/OFF switch 2 downwards until

it engages and the integrated control lamp illuminates.

You should use the keep hot function if you want to keep boiled water

hot, for example, to make fresh tea several times in succession.

The water does not start boiling in the keep hot range!

― After reaching the keep hot temperature set, the appliance switches

oﬀ

the heating process. The ON/OFF switch 2 and the integrated

indicator lamp remain switched on.

― Since the device is equipped with a keep hot function, the device

automatically begins r

eheating as soon as the water temperature

falls below the set temperature. The appliance heats until the desired

temperature is reached.

Please note that the device does not switch oﬀ automatically

when in the keep hot function. You should therefore never

leave the device unattended!

― As soon as you take the kettle oﬀ the base 3, the ON/OFF switch 2

click

s up and the integrated control lamp goes out.

― To interrupt the heating process, press the ON/OFF switch 2 back

up. The indicator lamp also goes out.

Do not set t

he temperature regulator 5 in the transition area

between the "keep hot range" (black) and the "boiling range"

(red) since the water can start to boil due to the diﬀ erence in

water levels.

INFORMATION

► This appliance is ﬁ tted with an overheating protector: if the appliance is

switched on accidentally

, without any water in the kettle, the appliance

automatically switches itself oﬀ .

If, for example due to a non-closed lid the appliance boils dry, the appliance

switches oﬀ automatically.

In such cases ﬁ rst allow the appliance to cool down before using it again.

Cleaning and Care

► Before cleaning, ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains power socket!

► Do not open any part of the housing. There are no user-serviceable elements

inside. An open housing will cr

eate the risk of a potentially fatal electrical

shock.

NEVER submerse the appliance in water or other liquids! You could

receive a fatal electric shock if residual liquids come into contact with

live components during operation.

► Let the appliance cool suﬃ

ciently before cleaning it. Risk of Burns!

WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE!

► Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning materials. These could attack

the upper sur

faces and irreparably damage the appliance.

■ Clean the exterior surfaces and the power cable with a slightly damp cloth.

Be sure to dry the appliance well before taking it back into use. For stubborn

soiling use a mild detergent on the cloth. Ensure that there are no detergent

residues in and on the appliance before it is taken back into use.

In the event of scale deposits:

Scale deposits on the bottom of the appliance lead to increased energy con-

sumption and reduce the service life of the appliance.

Descale the appliance as soon as scale deposits become apparent.

■ Before descaling, remove the scale ﬁ lter insert 7 (see chapter “Inser

ting/

removing the scale ﬁ lter insert”).

■ Use a descaler designed for household appliances (e.g. for coﬀ ee machines).

■ After descaling, rinse the appliance with lots of clean water.

Inserting/removing the scale ﬁ lter insert

1) Open the lid.

2) Pull the scale ﬁ lter insert 7 upwards out of its holder while pressing lightly

against the top corners.

3) Clean the scale ﬁ lter insert 7 with a slightly moistened dishcloth and under

running water.

4) After cleaning, insert the scale ﬁ lter insert 7 again. Ensure that the holder

engages and that the scale ﬁ lter insert 7 is ﬁ rmly seated.

NOTE

► If the scale deposits in the scale ﬁ lter insert 7 hav

e solidiﬁ ed, place the

ﬁ lter in a water-vinegar solution at a ratio of 6:1 for a few hours. The scale

deposits will dissolve themselves. Rinse the scale ﬁ lter insert 7 with plenty

of clear water.

Storage

■ Allow the appliance to cool down completely before putting it into storage.

■ Wind the power cable around the cable winder 4 under the base 3.

■ Store the appliance at a dry location.

doubt, consult your local disposal facility.

Notes on the Declaration of Conformity

This appliance complies, in regard to conformance with basic

requirements and other relevent regulations, with the EMV

Directive 2004/108/EC, as well as the Directive for Low

Voltage Devices 2006/95/EC.

The complete original Declaration of Conformity can be

obtained from the importer.

The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from the date of purchase. This

appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before

delivery.

Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim,

please contact our service department by telephone. Only in this way can a

post-free despatch for your goods be assured.

NOTICE

► The warranty applies only to material or manufacturing faults, it does not

apply to tr

ansport damage, normal wear and tear or damage to fragile

parts, such as switches.

This appliance is intended solely for private domestic use, not for commercial

applications. If this product has been subjected to improper or inappropriate

handling, abuse, or modiﬁ cations not carried out by one of our authorised sales

and service outlets, the warranty will be considered void.

This warranty does not aﬀ ect your statutory rights.

The warranty period is not extended by repairs made under the warranty.

This applies also to replaced and repaired parts.

Damages and defects extant at the time of purchase must be reported immediately

after unpacking, resp. no later than two days after the date of purchase.

Repairs carried out after lapse of the warranty period are subject to charge.

NIEBEZPIECZEŃSTWO –

PORAŻENIE PRĄDEM ELEKTRYCZNYM!

► Upewnij się, że podstawa z przyłączami elektrycznymi nie ma

kontaktu z wodą! W wypadku przypadkowego zamoczenia

podstawy należy ją najpierw dokładnie osuszyć.

► Czajnik należy używać wyłącznie z dołączoną do niego podstawą.
